Dan Griffiths

Dan Griffiths is an award winning theatre maker, director, teacher, and the founder of Black Horse Troupe, ClownZero, and KAPOOT Clown Theatre. He has created and performed numerous original theatrical works in over 45 states and 25 countries since 1988.

Dan has served as faculty for Clown Conservatory San Francisco, The School for Mime Theater, Columbia College Chicago, Roosevelt University, Academy of Art University and Indiana University Northwest. He now teaches Mask, Mime, and Clown workshops and masterclasses internationally. Most recently he taught Clown at The Wu Qiao International Circus Festival in Shijiazhuang China. Dan has performed with the Klown troupe Die Hanswurste, with Chicago’s 500 Clown, and internationally for The Department of Defense Overseas Shows. He has also worked as a clown doctor and trainer for The Big Apple Circus and is currently, the Director of CLOWNZERO a Medical Clowning unit in residence at UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. He recently was invited on a special envoy of humanitarian clowns touring Armenia with Patch and Lars Adams. Dan has studied with Marcel Marceau, Gregg Goldston, Moni Yakim, David Shiner, Stefan Niedzialkowski, at The School for Mime Theatre and The Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theater. Dan holds an M.A. in Experimental Performance from New College of California and an M.F.A in Interdisciplinary Art from the California Institute of Integral Studies.

Derrick Gilday

Derrick Gilday began his career in 2002 performing in community circus’s in San Diego CA and began fully pursuing the Contemporary circus medium from all angles. He has studied and performed commedia del arte, clown, buffoon, physical comedy, mime, multiple forms of dance: (modern, ballet, jazz, salsa) and traditional circus skills:(juggling, partner acrobatics, hand stands, equilibrium, and stilt dance.).

Derrick has worked in nearly every aspect of theater on stage and behind the curtain. From performing on the the streets of Central America and Europe to stages and theaters throughout the United States and around the globe.

Derrick Gilday is a Graduate of the San Francisco Clown conservatory under director Joe Deiffenbacher and has passed the rigorous Cirque Du Soleil audition process as a Clown and character performer entering himself into their database for future productions around the world. He currently runs Umbrella Ship Entertainment and creates shows with Mango and Dango, Teatro Gusta Fino and Something’s Burning.
